I’ve had quite a number of emails from other users asking me to take a little time to explain exactly what Sales Outsourcing actually is, and how it helps various companies. Sales Outsourcing, whilst a relatively new concept in Europe, has been used greatly in the US and also Japan. In the US its often refered to as the Rep-System, where professional sales people, offer their services directly to product makers, on a free lance basis.
They are then only paid for the activity they produce. The same system also exists in Japan. In both countries however, sales is seen as an art form.
In Europe sales as a career has a tarnished image, and as such good quality sales people do not receive the same social position as they would in the meritocratic USA.
The approach to sales people in Europe tends to be hit and miss. Many companies hire and fire constantly, trying to keep activity targets high and the blood fresh. In Europe, more than anywhere else, we need a different way to maximize the skills of our sales people.

Wat is Sales Outsourcing?
Veel bedrijfsleiders hebben mij gevraagd om wat meer toelichting te geven over wat sales outsourcing eigenlijk is en hoe het ondernemingen kan helpen. Terwijl Sales outsourcing in Europa een vrij nieuw concept is, is het in de Verenigde Staten en in Japan al erg in trek. In de VS staat het bekend als het ‘Rep-System’ waar professionele freelanceverkopers hun diensten rechtstreeks aan de producenten aanbieden.
Hetzelfde systeem bestaat ook in Japan. In beide landen wordt verkopen gezien als een kunstvorm maar in Europa bestaat een ander beeld over een carrière in de verkoop.

About the client: One of the nation\'s leading office supply companies was searching for a more effective way to increase sales and market share. The company needed a businesss-to business sales and account management program to help stop the annual decrease in their revenue and customer base.
After evaluating their sales team, the company realized that they were facing several growth and resources constrains hat were restricting them from achieving their revenue goals. The company ultimately chose Brand Promotors Account Management Services to provide a customized inside sales solution that would reach more customers, improve speed-to-market and increase sales

About the Client: This seven year old regional staffing and human resources consulting firm was experiencing slowing growth, pricing pressure, a lengthy sales cycle, and an inability to build revenue from alliances. Management tried several sales and marketing initiatives and changed sales leaders three times with no appreciable results. Situational Analysis Brand Promotors collaborated with management on how best to accelerate sales and capture market share in a highly competitive market. The company had to grow dramatically in order to achieve additional funding and to make some key acquisitions.
Through our discovery process we determined that the sales organization would have to be enlarged and the sales talent improved. A new market strategy and supporting sales process would be required for management to reach its objectives Action Taken We installed an end-to-end, repeatable sales process. We revised the positioning, target messaging, and sales process and deployed an improved partner development process. One of the best ways to do this, is to split up the sales process, aligning people with the best honed skills, to the various stages of the process. Why put someone with superb face-to-face skills, on a telephone in an office, for 2-3 days of each week? Why ask someone who is superb at product introductions, to
struggle with closing sales? Why take a brilliant account manager, with highly developed people skills and force them into heavy selling situations? The truth is, all of these examples are typical of Europe-wide sales systems, even in the largest of sales organizations. With sales outsourcing, we can truly maximize the effect of each type of sales professional. We should be using successful telephone-agents for appointment making, hard working product openers for multiple end user meetings and experienced in-house sales closers for getting those sales completed.
